Two Golden Rules at Drop

off time at Daycare

Whether your child is 3 months or 3 years old, there are two golden rules for drop-off:

Always say goodbye. You may think it's easier for your child and provider if you get your child involved in an activity and sneak off. Actually this is not so.  The experience of not knowing where you went will make your child more clingy, not less, and not necessarily only at separations.  Its  about building trust,  Your little one may become afraid to get involved because if he turns his eyes for a minute, you could disappear.

Don't drag it out. It's fine to stay as long as you need to to get your child comfortable, but once you say you're going, go.  When a child begs, 'Don't go, don't go,' and you don't, it makes him or her more and more frantic: 'I said don't go and she didn't. Will it work next time, too?"' Better to let them  know from the start what your plan is (''I'll read a story, and then I'll go.") and hold to it.

Philosophy

My basic philosophy is to always  recognize  each child as a unique individual with varying interests, needs, and abilities. Therefore instruction and guidance  is approached in an individualized manner, allowing children to progress at their own pace. I sincerely  believe that the process of learning is more important than the content of learning. Because of the focus on process learning, activities are designed to emphasize the experiences children are having rather than what results from activities. It is less important that a child can copy a "project" than what a child creates, experiments, and discovers! While assisting children in learning, I am  always conscious of my  primary objective: to establish a warm, nurturing relationship with each child.

My Goals:

To provide the warmth, support, and consistency necessary

for each child's healthy emotional development.

To provide an environment giving children the opportunity

to learn by doing and to enjoy their learning.

To provide an enriched environment which encourages

the development of the "whole child".
